Welcome to our website. We are Karl and Beth Mueller (she used to be Beth Cummins, in case any of her exes are searching the web for traces of the one that got away). If you know us, you know that "Our Big Trip" refers to Beth’s and my, your humble narrator Karl’s, one year road trip in a 2002 VW Eurovan, accompanied by our 12-year-old Husky/Lab Plato (spayed female). If you don't know us and happened upon this web page while looking for clever ideas about how to cook with rhubarb or helpul hints about how to pass the exam for your jackalope hunting license, welcome! If you know about a hidden corner we should visit, please give us the scoop!
Due to various responsibilities- financial, educational and professional, we have not done much traveling during the 14 years we have been together. We did have a week together for our honeymoon, but we were too busy recouping from from the stress of getting married to enjoy it. A number of years ago, we hatched a plan to take a road trip for a while. About a year ago, it seemed that a window of opportunity was opening. In late 2002 it opened, and we began planning. Our official departure date was June 15, 2003. Our trip took us through most of the continental United States and some of Canada, and included camping, city exploration, visiting tourist attractions, volunteering and goodness knows what else. The trip ended back in San Francisco in 2004.
